The Environmental Challenge of the Banner Industry: The 3.14BAN Team at RemaDays Warsaw

Recently, Kateryna Uvarova, the founder of Piban, attended one of the largest international exhibitions in the advertising and printing industry—RemaDays Warsaw. The event brought together leading manufacturers, distributors, and industry professionals to discuss innovations, trends, and challenges in the field of printed advertising.

One of the key issues that concerned our team was the reuse and recycling (recycling & upcycling) of banner fabric after its use. Unfortunately, most banner product manufacturers evade responsibility for the environmental impact, citing the end-of-life responsibility of consumers. This means that the issue of material disposal falls entirely on end users, without support or solutions from manufacturers.

Given the global problem of plastic pollution, the issue of sustainability in advertising production is becoming increasingly relevant. The lack of clear waste management mechanisms complicates the possibility of recycling PVC banners, ultimately leading to their disposal in landfills.

We hope that effective initiatives will soon emerge to promote responsible production and environmentally friendly disposal of advertising materials.

In the meantime, we are addressing this issue through creative recycling and actively applying upcycling techniques to extend the life cycle of banner fabric.
