Upcycling Banners into Facilitation Cubes: 3,14BAN × VidNOVA:UA Case

Upcycling Banners into Facilitation Cubes: 3,14BAN × VidNOVA:UA Case

As part of a new collaboration with the NGO VidNOVA:UA, our team at 3,14BAN implemented a unique upcycling case. We created custom-designed facilitation cubes made from banners that had previously served as visual support for the organization’s events, initiatives, and gatherings.

FROM BANNERS — TO TOOLS FOR DIALOGUE

These banners had already fulfilled their original purpose — they informed, attracted attention, and were part of meaningful social events. We preserved their story, texture, and character, but gave them a new mission.Instead of ending up as waste, they were transformed into objects that foster dialogue.

The new upcycled cubes are lightweight, durable, and visually recognizable. Their main role is to serve as facilitation tools. During sessions, the cube is passed around the circle — a symbol of inclusion, mutual respect, and attention to every voice.

NOT JUST A SHAPE. IT’S A STATEMENT

Each cube is unique and handcrafted in the 3,14BAN workshop. This is not just about banner upcycling — it’s meaningful product design.

This project combines:• An ecological approach (use of reclaimed materials)• Handcrafting (preserving traces of the banner's previous life)• A social mission (creating tools that foster facilitation, collaboration, and communication)

Through this approach, we reduce waste, save resources, and create meaningful objects that support sustainable development.

SHARED VISION: 3,14BAN × VidNOVA:UA

This case is not only about objects — it’s about trust, values, and a shared vision of change that you can literally hold in your hands. We’re grateful to the VidNOVA:UA team for their partnership, openness, and commitment to integrating sustainable solutions into their work.

We believe that upcycling in Ukraine should be more than just an alternative to disposal — it should become a new approach to design, production, and conscious thinking. This case is proof of that.
